THIRUVALLA(Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram dayara Thiruvalla was erected for the apostolic activities in the Malankara Catholic Church. The inmates are to extend their pastoral service to the parishes and priests around the Ashram. This is the residence of the senior members of the province. Thiruvalla Ashram was the formation house of Brahmacharees (Degree students). At present it is the formation house 1st year Yogarthees of Bethany Navajyothy province.

Short History:

Thiruvalla Dayara is the first Bethany Ashram under Thiruvalla Diocese. On 30th of May 1935, Mar Ivanios and 6 members (Fr.Abraham Padinjaramannil, Fr.John Kuzhimeppurath Dn. Pachomios, Dn. Raphael, Sadhu Antony and Sadhu Ambrose) started staying at Thirummolapuram. They bought a piece of land at Tholassery and started constructing a house. When the construction was completed in 1937 the members shifted their residence to Tholassery. The year 2010 was the platinum Jubilee year of Bethany Ashram, Thiruvalla

In 1998, the 16th general Synaxis decided to erect two provinces; Bethany Navajeevan and Bethany Navajyothy Province. The First Provincial Synaxis of the Navajyothy province decided to use the Thiruvalla Dayara as Provincialate and the Province was inaugurated on 28th of September 2000 by Archbishop Cyril Mar Baselios. Later Provincial house was shifted to Aluva on 15th of May 2001.

ADIMALI(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Dhyanashram Adimali was erected primarily for catering the spiritual needs of Bethanians, Clergy and the people of God. In this Ashram, a careful attempt is made to intensify the Ashram- life by creating an atmosphere of prayer and meditation. A guideline is given as an aid in running this ashram.

Short History:

The Third Provincial Synaxis, held on 2006 decided to erect an Ashram for prayer, meditation, study and manual work. Hence the province bought 4 acres and 5 cents of land on 18 September, 2006. The name “Bethany Dhyanashram” was decided by the provincial council and blessed by His Grace Thomas Mar Koorilos, the Archbishop of Thiruvalla on 18th December 2008. Adimali Ashram is in the Arch-Diocese of Thiruvalla.

Location:

Bethany Dhyanashram is situated at Anaviratty, Adimali in the district of Idukki. It is at 7 km away from Adimali, on the way to Moonar, near Vallara waterfall. The nearest railway station is Aluva.

CHELAKKARA(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Chelakkara Bethany Ashram is the residence of our members who are assigned to look after the Estate belonging to the province. The inmates extend their pastoral service to the parishes.

Short History:

In 1996 Bethany Ashram bought 100 acres of land in the name of Fr. Jerome Peedikaparambil OIC. Chelakkara Bethany Ashram was suppressed in 2003 due to lack of enough personals. During this period, it was managed from the Provincial Ashram and Girideepam Ashram. Later in 2006 the 3rd Provincial Synaxis reinstated it as Zur-Dayara for the Bethany Navajyothy Province.

Location:

The Ashram is situated in the district of Trichur and is 7 km away from Chelakkara town. The nearest railway stations are Wadakkanchery and Shornur.

CHERUKULANJI(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Cherukulanji was erected for the pastoral and educational activities. The members of the Ashram are engaged in the educational mission of the province and by taking care of the boys, they follow the footsteps of Mar Ivanios, the founder.

Short History:

In 1976 Thiruvalla Diocese entrusted Karimpanamkuzhy Parish to Bethany Congregation. Fr. Mathew Thuruthel OIC stayed in Karimpanamkuzhi Parish. During that period, on 4th November 1979 Bethany Congregation bought a UP aided school at Cheruklulanji, from Adv.Thomas. Fr. Lawrence OIC and Fr. Lazarus OIC were also appointed in 1979.

On 15 August 1985 a temporary building for the Ashram was constructed and it was blessed by Benedict Mar Gregorios. Later the building was renovated and blessed by Geevarghese Mar Thimotheos on 29th of July, 1992.

On 3rd of June 1982, the UP school was upgraded as an aided high school and Fr. Ambrose OIC was the manager and Head Master of the School. The main objective is to give education to poor and marginalized children of this rural area.

In 2009, Bethany Bala Bhavan, Chirackal was shifted to Cherukualnji, Ranni by considering the possibility of the special care to those children who are studying in our own school. All students of Bethany balabhavan are studying in Bethany High School, Cherukulanji.

In 2011, the Ashram was renovated for the accommodation of the boys. The Students from 5th to 10th standard are admitted in the boy’s home. They are provided with free education, food and accommodation and at present there are 30 students.

The Ashram is situated at Cherukulanji, Ranni in the district of Pathanamthitta. It is 3km away from Ittiyappara, Ranni. The nearest railway station is Thiruvalla.

CHIRACKAL(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram, Chirackal was founded with the aim of imparting free education to poor children. It was also for the pastoral activities of Malankara Catholic Church in the region.

Short History:

Bethany Ashram, Chirackal was erected in 1987 . A Boy’s Home was started in 1994 as a platinum jubilee Memorial of Bethany Congregation. New building for the boy’s home was blessed by Most Rev. Geevarghese Mar Thimotheos and Paulose Mar Philexinos on 14th of March 1995. After the erection of the Province, Bethany bala bhavan became part of Bethany Navajyothy Province.

Bethany Ashram, Chirackal was started with the special interest and vision of Mar Philexinos of Thozhiyoor Church reunited with Malankara Catholic Church and he requested Bethany Ashram to extend its pastoral ministry to the region. Later in 1987 Fr.Daniel Kadakampallil was sent to assist Bishop, and he stayed with the Bishop with the intention of starting an ashram there. Bethany bought a piece of land at Chirackal and Fr.Daniel looked after the property from Anjoor. Later, Fr.Thomas Mavileth was appointed and he stayed in a rented house and started construction of the Ashram. We have 7 acres of land filled with coconut trees.

DESOM(Provincial ashram)

Aim:

The Ashram was erected as provincial house. The inmates extend their pastoral service to the parishes and priests around the Ashram and especially to the Malankara Catholic Communities.

Short History:

Desom Bethany Ashram is the Provincial Ashram of Bethany Navajyothy Province of the Order of the Imitation of Christ. The Provincial Ashram was erected in the year 2001. The new Chapel for the Ashram was constructed and blessed on 10th of January 2009. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, Most Rev. Dr. Abraham Mar Julios, Most Rev. Jacob Mar Barnabas, Very. Rev. Fr. George Thomas Kallunkal OIC, Very. Rev. Fr. William Nedumpuarath OIC etc… graced the occasion by their presence. It was the formation house of the 1st year yogarthees and Degree Students who were doing college studies in UC College, Aluva. There are philosophy students in the Provincial Ashram from 2009 onwards, who are the day scholars of St. Joseph Pontifical Institute Mangalappuzha.

Hebri(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

The property was bought the extension of missionary activities in the northern part of Karnataka. It is also an income generating unit of the province through agriculture.

Short History:

In accordance with decision of the 4th Provincial Synaxis, the members of the Provincial council, - Very Rev. Fr. Mathai Kadavil, Fr. William Nedumpuarath, Fr. Thomas Manoj, Fr. Ani Zacharia - visited the property along with the fathers of South Canara region.

The property at Hebri was bought for Bethany Navajyothy Province in the year 2010. It was blessed on 15th of April 2010 by Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Anthonios OIC. Rev. Fr. Jose Mariadas OIC, the Superior General, Rev. Fr. Mathai Kadavil OIC, the Provincial Superior and 30 members of the congregation were present for the blessing.

The Property of 30 acres (16 acres pattayam and 14 acres kumik) was registered for Bethany Navajyothy Province in the names of Fr. William Nedumpurath, Fr. Sathyan Thomas and Bro. Zacharia Oonnumparackal in the year 2010. The whole property is cultivated with rubber trees, coconut trees etc…

KADABA(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Kadaba was erected for the apostolic activities in the then Diocese of Bathery. The inmates are to extend their pastoral service to the parishes in South Canara region especially to the Malankara Catholic Communities.

Short History:

In 1979 the Ashram was erected at Kadaba. On 25th of September 1980 the foundation stone of the new Ashram was laid by Fr.Jacob Perumpral, the proto-vicar of the district. The house was blessed in 1982.

We have started a commercial Institute recognized by the Karnataka Govt. at Kadaba and a tuition centre. The house functioned as the formation center for the aspirants during 1990-91 and the PUC students in the year 2001-2002.

The Provincial Council held on 11th June 2005 had given permission to execute the Mardalam project of the Special School. A school for the mentally challenged students started at Mardala, South Canara in December 2007. 5 Acres of land was donated by Mr.K.V.Alexander. Director of this school is Fr. Zacharias Nanathittau OIC. There are 57 students under training in this school.

KALEWADI(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Kalewadi was erected for the pastoral and educational activities. The members of the Ashram are engaged in the educational mission of the province.

Short History:

:The history of Bethany Ashram and Nirmal Bethany English school goes back to January 10, 1987 when Fr. Antony Valiyavilayil OIC started the Nursery School at Kalewadi Village in Pune. From the very beginning the Bethany sisters extended their support for the mission. In 1990 the ground floor of the building attached to the new Ashram was inaugurated. In 1998 the management resumed the construction and the third floor was inaugurated in 2002.

In 2005 April the Bhosari centre was closed down and merged the families with Kalewadi church. The new Ashram and the new block of Nirmal Bethany Junior College were blessed on 14th October 2007. Most Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas, Very. Rev. William Nedumpurath OIC etc… graced the occasion with their presence.

KALLAR(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Kallar was erected for the pastoral and apostolic activities in the Malankara Catholic Church, develop a culture loving the nature through agriculture and to engage in social activities for the upliftment of Malankara people in high range region.

Short History:

Kallar Bethany Ashram is the first attempt of bethany mission to extend to high ranges. In the beginning Frs. Vincent and Alphonse started staying at the Koottar Parish, then we bought a piece of land at Kallar and an Ashram was built there. In August 1991 Geevarghese Mar Thimotheos, the Bishop of Thiruvalla blessed Kallar Ashram. In 1992 the house started functioning as a retreat centre under the leadership of Fr. Placid.

Aim:

The property at Kharghar was bought for the residence of the missionaries of the of Mumbai, i.e., Mission house of the Province.

Short History:

In accordance with decision of the 4th Provincial Synaxis, the members of the Provincial council, - Very Rev. Fr. Mathai Kadavil, Fr. William Nedumpurath, Fr. Thomas Manoj, Fr. Ani Zacharia - visited the property along with the fathers of Mumbai-Pune region.

The Property of 200 Sq.mts. was registered for Bethany Navajyothy Province (Bethany Ashram Trust) in the name of Fr. John Berchmans OIC in 2011.

The foundation stone for the new Ashram was laid on 30th of August 2011. Most Rev. Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas, Very Rev. Fr. Mathai Kadavil OIC, Rev. Fathers of Mumbai-Pune Region, Fathers of Mumbai Zone of ETRI, and some representatives of Kharghar parish were also present on the occasion. New Ashram was blessed by His Excellency 26th August 2012.

The property is situated Karghar (Plot No. 135, Sector. 21, Karghar, Navi Mumbai). It is 8km away from Panvel Railway station, 1km away from Karghar local train station and 2kms away from the proposed airport at New-Bombay.

Aim:

This Ashram (Mission Mandiram) is intended to engage with the mission activities of the Church in and around Coimbatore and to launch possible apostolic activities of the Congregation. A new Bethany Ashram at Kinathukadavu was erected on 15th August, 2014 for the Mission Apostolates of our Congregation in Coimbatore.

Short History:

We bought Kinathukadavu 2.3 acre land and have done maintenance in the small building attached to accommodate two persons. It was blessed in the name of Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15, 2014. Mission activities under the Ashram was officially inaugurated 2016 April 26. Tailoring Unit for the village of Solavampalayam at Kinathukadvu belongs to the Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu, India.

GIRIDEEPAM-KOTTAYAM(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Girideepam Kottayam was erected for the pastoral and educational activities.

Short History:

Bethany Ashram started a nursery school in 1975. It was in the parish hall of Little Flower church , Kalathipady and after a few months the classes were shifted to a house (present bethany Press) adjacent to Bethany Ashram Generalate. Since there was no space to accommodate the class I students, it was shifted to one of the guest rooms of Bethany Ashram and later shifted to the present school campus. The first batch of SSLC came out with 100% result in 1988. In 1996 the school was upgraded to the higher secondary school. In 1997, CBSE school was also started in the same campus.

Bethany Ashram Girideepam Zur- dayara proper was erected at Girideepam Campus in 2004 and it was continued as formation house for the degree students of the Province. Rev. Brothers were the day- scholars in CMS college Kottayam.

Aim:

To establish an Ashram and expand the activities of Nar Gregorios foundation, with the initiative of Fr. Ignatius Thangalathil, the Provincial council of Bethany Navajyothy Province decided and bought 52 cent plot for Bethany Ashram, Kottoor

Short History:

Bethany Ashram Kottor is established on 4th February 2014, Bethany ashram is using Building of Mar Gregorios foundation. An old age home is established and there are nearly 40 women staying there. They are helped by SIC sisters.

Aim:

The inmates of this Ashram are expected to cater the spiritual needs of Malankara Catholic Community in Mangalore.

Short History:

The Bethany Mission Mandiram, Mangalore was erected in the year 1999. The total property of the Ashram is 29 cents, which was registered for Bethany Ashram, in the name of Rev. Fr. George Thomas OIC, the then Superior General.

The Ashram was renovated in the year 2010 for the intention of a working-men’s hostel. There are facilities for the stay of 20 working-men.

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Meenangadi was erected for the apostolic activities in Wayanad region. The inmates are to extend their pastoral service to the parishes.

Short History:

Bethany Ashram extended her missionary activities in Wayanad in 1960s. Mar Severios, Bishop of Thiruvalla, requested Bethany Ashram to study the possibility of Malankara Mission in Wayanad region. Hence Fr. Michael Manjanamkuzhy OIC, the pioneer of mission in Wayanad, was appointed

On 15th of October 1964 as an Ashram was erected. Slowly the fathers started and extended their services to the near by parishes. In 1984 a new building was constructed with the intention of starting a renewal center in the region. Parish ministry and organising retreat are the main activities of fathers. They are also involved in social and charitable activities. After the erection of the province, due the lack of members which was suppressed by Provincial Synaxis held in 2003 and the house was attached to the Zur- dayara at Bathery. It was reinstated on 1st of August 2006 as Bethany Ashram Zur-dayara.

NELLIYADI (Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Nelliyadi was erected for the pastoral and educational activities. The members of the Ashram are engaged in the educational mission of the province.

Short History:

In Nelliyadi 7 acres of land was baught by the congregation in 1980. The foundation stone of the new building was laid by his Excellency Cyril Mar Baselios on 9th of November 1980. This Ashram was officially inaugurated and blessed on 23rd of November 1981. Bethany Ashram concentrated on the need of the neighbors and the development of the church.

Bethany felt the urgency of education in Southa canara and a nursery school was started in 1987. The school was upgraded High School in 1988. The Higher Secondary was started in the year 2006. Jnanodaya Bethany English Higher Secondary School is one among popular schools in the district of South Canara.

Bethany ITC, is an Industrial Training Centre directed by the members of Bethany Ashram Nellyadi. In 1996 we started this ITC at Nellyady, Puttur Tq D.K, with 4 trades. All trades are permanently affiliated to NCVT New Delhi. Bethany ITI was a self financing institute till 01.10.2007. Now the ITC is an aided educational institution.

NILAMBUR (Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Nilambur was erected for the apostolic activities. The inmates extend their pastoral service to the parishes.

Short History:

Nilambur Bethany Ashram was erected Zur-Dayara on 29th of July 2006. It was erected primarily for the extension of the missionary apostolate of Bethany to the northern part of Kerala especially to the Malabar region.

The members of the provincial council visited the property and the land (4.50 acres) was registered on 10th of April 2006 for Bethany Navajyothy Province in the name of Fr. Chacko Aerath OIC, the then Provincial Superior.

The Ashram was blessed by Most Rev. Divannasios then Boshop of Bathery on 10th of July 2006.

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Bathery was erected for the apostolic activities in the Diocese of Bathery. The inmates are to extend their pastoral service to the parishes and priests around the Ashram and especially to the Malankara Catholic Communities.

Short History:

In 1990, Bethany Congregation bought a piece of land near Bathery Bishop’ s house. On 20th of September 1990, the then Superior General Rev.Fr.Louis Moolaveettil OIC laid the foundation stone. The new Ashram was blessed by Most Rev. Cyril Mar Baselios on 16th of November 1991. The Ashram was renovated and blessed by Geevarghese Mar Divannasios on 29th of July 2004.

It was started as an ecumenical center and later it became a boarding for the boys of St. Joseph English High School. In 2001, it became a formation house of the yogarthees of the Province. According to the decision of the 4th Provincial Synaxis formation of the yogarthees shifted to Noojibaltila and the Ashram became a centre for Vijathiya Mission of Bethany. The possibility of study and research of the Adivasis of Wayand is possible.

NOOJIBALTHILA(Zoor Dayara)

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Noojibalthila was erected for the pastoral and educational activities. The members of the Ashram are engaged in the educational mission of the province.

Short History:

: In 1978 when the new diocese of Bathery came into existence and Bishop Cyril Mar Baselios took charge of the diocese he invited the Bethany Fathers to take up mission in the Karnataka State. Fr.John Berchmans the Superior General accepted the invitation and the Congregation entered into an agreement with the diocese. As per the agreement the south canara and Shimoga districts were entrusted to Bethany Congregation. In April 1979 Bethany took charge of the South Canara Mission. The Bethany fathers stayed at the parish home attached to the Noojibalthila Parish.

Noojibalthila High school was started in 1981. In 1981 Noojbalthila school was recognized by the Karnataka Govt. It was upgraded as PUC in the year 1983. The brothers who are in formation do their higher secondary education in Bethany PU College.

Aim:

Bethany Ashram Kalewadi was erected for the pastoral and educational activities. The members of the Ashram are engaged in the educational mission of the province.

Short History:

Bethany Ashram, Surat was erected Zur-Dayara on 1st of May 2006. This Ashram was erected as extension of the apostolic activities among the Non-Christians in North India giving thrust to Catholic education to all, especially in the Mumbai-Pune region of Bethany Navajyothy Province. The inmates of this Ashram are expected to cater the spiritual needs of Malankara Catholic Community in Surat and the Malankara missions around.

With the earnest initiative of Rev. Fr.Mathew Perumpillikunnel and the unconditional support of Rev. Fr. John Berchmans O.I.C., the Co-ordinator of ETRI, Mary Matha Public School was officially inaugurated in Pramukh Park, Pandesara , Surat on 9-06-2002 by Rt.Rev.Dr. Joshua Mar Ignatios, the Auxiliary Bishop of Arch-Diocese of Trivandrum. Nursery and K.G.Classes were started on the same year with 33 students in the rented class rooms. Gradually the school got developed in its full swing and in 2009 there are more than 1000 students studying from Nursery to Std. VIII. Meanwhile Sisters from Holy Spirit Congregation came to Surat in June, 2003 to assist Rev.Fr. Mathew Perumpillikunnel in the functioning of the school and Rev. Sr.Lisiya was appointed as the new Principal and she continued in the post till April 2006 and handed over the baton to Rev. Sr. Sunitha OSS.

In the year 2004 the management of Mary Matha Public School was transferred to Bethany Navajyothy Province and Rev.Fr. Mathews C Augustine Thengazhikathu O.I.C was appointed as the manager of the School and as the Superior of Bethany Ashram.

The foundation stone of the new school building was laid by Rt. Rev. Dr. Godfrey Rosario, the Bishop of Baroda on 17-12-2005. The plan for the school was submitted in SMC and got it permitted. The construction of ground and first floor of the school has been completed by June 2007. The school building was officially inaugurated and blessed by Rt Rev. Dr. Godfrey Rosario, the bishop of Baroda on 01-02-08 with the presence of Rt. Rev.Dr. Jacob Mar Barnabas , V. Rev. Fr. George Thomas Kallunkal OIC, the Superior General Bethany Congregation, V.Rev. Fr. William Nedumpurath OIC the provincial Superior, Bethany Navajyothy Province, Corporators.

In 2008, we have got the permission for the High school from Gujarat State Secondary Board.

The Ashram is situated at Pramukh Park, Near Balti Boi & Co., Fatehnagar, Surat, and 6 kms away from Surat City. The nearest railway station is Surat.

TITWALA (Zoor Dayara)

Short History:

As per the decision of the 4th Provincial Synaxis, the members of the Provincial council, - Very Rev. Fr. Mathai Kadavil, Fr. William Nedumpuarath, Fr. Thomas Manoj, Fr. Ani Zacharia - visited the property at Titwala, Mumbai along the Fathers of Mumbai-Pune region. It was blessed on 2014 by Superior general.

The Property of 10 acres and 19 guntas was registered for Bethany Navajyothy Province (Bethany Ashram Trust) in the name of Fr. John Berchmans OIC in 2011.

The property is at Titwala which 19kms away from Kalyan railway station.

Present Mission:

For the local children tuition classes and leadership porgrammes started.
